Sculptra
Thrive Skin + Wellness is located in Holly Springs.
Sculptra is a type of dermal filler. This cosmetic procedure uses FDA-approved poly-L-lactic acid to reduce deep wrinkles in your skin. Unlike traditional hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, which work immediately upon injection to fill in lines, wrinkles and folds, Sculptra is made from Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which helps stimulate your skin’s own natural collagen production over time, helping to reinforce skin’s inner structure and increase facial volume that has been lost to aging. PLLA is a biodegradable substance that has been proven safe and has been used in medical products, including dissolvable sutures, for more than 30 years. It contains no animal by-products or human DNA.
Sculptra Benefits and Treatment Areas
Sculptra smooths out the appearance of moderate to severe lines and wrinkles like deep nasolabial folds, parentheses lines, and marionette lines. This product is designed to restore the contours of the face gradually and naturally.
It accomplishes this by stimulating collagen production in the deeper layers of the skin. More collagen within the dermal layers creates volume and improves structure.
Certain dermal fillers are made from animal byproducts, which can risk allergic reactions in some patients. Thanks to its synthetic composition, Sculptra is a vegan option.
Am I a Good Candidate for Sculptra?
The best candidates for Sculptra are individuals who want to improve moderate to severe lines and wrinkles without surgery. Sculptra is highly recommended for those who are allergic to other formulas made with animal byproducts.
Individuals with a history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring may experience complications from Sculptra. Consult with us to discuss alternatives.
Sculptra is not safe for women who are pregnant, lactating, or breastfeeding. For these patients, it is best to postpone Sculptra treatment.
People under 18 years of age may not be considered for Sculptra. Schedule your consultation to learn more.
Your Sculptra Consultation
During the consultation, you will be asked about your skin concerns, goals, and complete medical history. Once it is determined that you are eligible for the treatment, you will be given an overview of Sculptra’s benefits.
The target injection sites will be discussed to help you visualize the possible results. Feel free to ask questions to help you prepare for your Sculptra appointment.
Sculptra Treatment Plan
The typical treatment regimen for Sculptra Aesthetic consists of three injections over three to four months. Results appear gradually over a period of a few months, and are long-lasting, more than two years. In contrast, HA fillers last until the HA is absorbed by the body and excreted (typically 6 to 12 months after injection).
Sculptra Aftercare
There is no downtime or recovery time after a Sculptra treatment. Avoid touching the injection sites. Put off activities that cause sweating like exercise, hot showers, and saunas.
Expect mild swelling and bruising after your Sculptra treatment. You may manage these with a cold compress.
Your Sculptra will be performed at Thrive Skin + Wellness' surgery center located in Holly Springs, NC.
